“And Jacob took for himself rods of poplar…and he set the rods which he had peeled before the flocks…”
—Genesis 30:37
Nearly four thousand years ago, in the land of the Levant, during the time of the patriarchs, a miracle of inheritance unfolded. The Jacob Sheep — piebald, speckled, and marked with bands — were born through the covenant between Jacob and Laban. As recorded in Genesis 30, these distinct sheep became Jacob’s wages, the fruit of his labor, faith, and divine favor.
“And I will pass through all your flock today… every speckled and spotted one shall be my wages.”
—Genesis 30:32
With time, the sheep journeyed with Jacob into Egypt, where they dwelled through famine and slavery. From there, they followed Israel through the wilderness, under the shadow of cloud and fire. These were likely the very lambs offered on the altars of the Exodus, sanctified in the blood of the Passover.
“I will search for My sheep, and will deliver them out of all places…” (Ezekiel 34:12).
But as with the people of Israel, exile came. Scattered to the nations — from the Middle East to Spain, from China to the British Isles — the Jacob Sheep wandered through centuries. Yet the prophets did not forget them. Jeremiah cried: “Where is the flock that was given you, your beautiful sheep?” (Jeremiah 13:20). Ezekiel saw their return as part of redemption itself: “I will search for My sheep, and will deliver them out of all places…” (Ezekiel 34:12).

A Modern-Day Return
In the year 2013, in the unlikely hills of British Columbia, Canada, the divine whisper was heard again. A young couple, Jenna and Gil Lewinsky, stumbled upon a flock — piebald, speckled, ancient in appearance. Moved by the Spirit and stirred by destiny, they knew these were the sheep of Jacob.
Despite barriers of law and distance — for Israel had no agreement with Canada for livestock import — they pressed on. Through faith, perseverance, and the unity of Jews and Christians alike, a miracle occurred. In 2016, after 2,500 years in exile, 119 Jacob Sheep returned to the Land of Israel.
They were brought to a place of prophecy — Migdal Eder, the Tower of the Flock, overlooking the tomb of Rachel, Jacob’s beloved wife. In these very hills, Boaz met Ruth. David tended his sheep. Solomon rode in splendor. The stones still whisper of temples and kings, and now, the sheep have come home — during the Jubilee year, the 70th of Israel’s rebirth.
“And thou, O Tower of the Flock, the stronghold of the daughter of Zion, unto thee shall it come — the first dominion…”
—Micah 4:8
By divine orchestration and the vision of the Council of Efrat, the sheep grazed once more upon the ancient inheritance. They are more than livestock — they are a living testimony of covenant, exile, and redemption.
About the Shepherdess, Jenna Lewinsky – Shepherdess of Prophecy and Purpose
Born in South Africa and trained in the world of numbers, Jenna Lewinsky seemed destined for a life behind ledgers — not leading flocks. A qualified accountant with a sharp mind and a global perspective, Jenna’s early career included serving at the heart of diplomacy: the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she worked as a Government Fellow, gaining a unique glimpse into the inner workings of Israel’s national mission.
But destiny has a way of rewriting scripts.
While living in Canada, Jenna encountered a small and unusual flock with ancient markings — speckled, spotted, and crowned with multiple horns. What others overlooked, Jenna recognized: these were Jacob Sheep, the very breed described in the Book of Genesis, once raised by the patriarch Jacob himself. What followed was not just a return to roots, but a leap into prophecy.
Combining her strategic mind, deep faith, and relentless determination, Jenna embarked on a mission that crossed continents and spiritual realms — to return the lost Jacob Sheep to their biblical homeland. Against all odds, with no legal pathway and countless barriers, she helped lead the extraordinary campaign known as “BaaAliyah.” In 2016, after 2,500 years in exile, 119 Jacob Sheep arrived in Israel, under her care.
Today, Jenna tended the flock in Migdal Eder, the “Tower of the Flock,” near Bethlehem and overlooking Rachel’s Tomb — sacred ground where prophecy and pasture meet. As both shepherdess and steward of biblical heritage, she bridged the ancient and modern, the practical and the prophetic.
Jenna Lewinsky is not only an accountant of numbers — she’s a keeper of promises, a woman whose life proves that sometimes the most unexpected journeys are the ones written long ago.
